The Seasons of a Career and the Choice to Stay
Why I’m Still Here, Decades Later
There have been moments over the years when I’ve thought about stepping away.
The long hours. The changing markets. The constant pressure.
There were seasons when I worked 60 to 75 hours a week, and at times, it wasn’t easy to justify.
But whenever I found myself asking, “Why am I still doing this?”
the answer was always the same:
Because it still matters.
It matters to the couple buying their first home after years of renting.
It matters to the single parent creating a fresh start for their family.
It matters to the couple entering their next chapter and looking for simplicity and peace.
Over time, I’ve come to see this career not as a job, but as a series of seasons.
Some seasons are about growth.
Some are about stability.
And some are simply about getting through and showing up anyway.
But in every season, I’ve stayed grounded in one truth:
When you do work that truly impacts people’s lives, there will always be a reason to continue.
Yes, the hours can be long.
But so is the impact.
And as long as I believe in the “why,”
I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
